The VNET 15HL uses one high efficiency 380mm (15.00”) drive unit with a 76mm (3.00”) voice coil drive. This integrates with digital signal processing, network control and Class D amplifier technologies to create fully networkable subwoofer to partner the VNET™ full range loudspeakers.

Incorporating a digital electronics section that uses a third generation 96kHz DSP chipset in conjunction with efficient and reliable 800 Watt switched mode power supply Class D power modules; the whole system is designed to operate at a low temperature, even when driven at very high power levels.

VNET™ supports free network topology so cabinets can be arranged in a daisy chain, linked in a star configuration or in any combination of both. Implementation of the network could not be simpler, with connections between nodes via high quality rugged Neutrik Ethercon connectors, which are compatible with standard RJ45 plugs, and CAT5 cable. Each VNET™ module contains a unique address so that no user input will be required to configure network nodes.

This is horn loaded and capable of delivering high sound pressure levels, with extremely low distortion and power compression, while maintaining a uniform frequency response throughout its dynamic range. A very high output capability and tight and punchy sound means the networkable VNET 15HL provides maximum low frequency impact for a wide variety of sound reinforcement applications.

The compact dimensions of the cabinet enables it to be used in permanent or portable applications without being obtrusive. Available in black or white, it is constructed from 18mm (5/8”) multi-ply hardwood to survive the punishment that speaker systems are subjected to on the road and in club installations.

Complete with recessed carrying handles for ease of transportation, the VNET 15HL also has 10mm flying points to provide a quick and secure flying system and a blanking plate for optional VTH pole mount. Tripods can therefore be eliminated by connecting VNET™ subwoofers and VNET™ Dual Concentric™ loudspeakers by ordering the Tannoy VTH top hat mounting hardware.

Networking

The RS485 interface is used for the serial data, using a twisted pair to send and receive information to a high number of nodes over very long distances. Operating on a shared bus system, so that a single computer can control any node on that bus, also means that status information can be gathered from any of the devices. This differential signal is very robust, while RS-485 is one of the most popular communications methods used in industrial applications where its noise immunity and long-distance capability are a perfect fit.

As only data to control setup functions and ongoing system diagnostics is carried over the network and each VNET™ loudspeaker controls its own DSP functions, any unforeseen problem would be isolated to only that particular node and audio will still be delivered.

Speakers identified on the network set up screen have factory default names, which can be edited by the user to reflect their actual location on the network. They can be physically located on the network by selecting the Flash function to activate an LED mounted on the front of the loudspeaker.

The loudspeakers are fully calibrated at the factory, avoiding the need to input the correct speaker management settings or dynamics at the point of install. This frees the installer to concentrate instead on room measurement and system optimization.
