The TURBOSOUND ATHENS TCS153 is a switchable bi-amp/passive 2,000 Watt three way full range loudspeaker designed for use in a wide range of fixed installations. The carbon fibre loaded 15" low frequency driver utilises a specialised voice coil wound on both the inside and the outside of the former for higher magnetic density, which results in better cooling, higher power handling, and improved efficiency. The high efficiency 6.5" mid range driver with low mass coil delivers improved transient response, and the titanium dome 1.4" neodymium high frequency compression driver is loaded by a rotatable low distortion waveguide providing 70° horizontal by 40° vertical dispersion. These high grade components are matched with an internal passive crossover, which can be by-passed for fully bi-amped operation. The entire mid/high section is rotatable through 90° within the enclosure, allowing a swap of the horizontal and vertical dispersion patterns.
The trapezoidal cabinet shape conveniently allows the TCS153 to be tight packed with other TCS series enclosures. Multiple rigging points, supported by internal steel flying strips, are provided on the top, bottom, sides and rear of the cabinet to enable it to be suspended and angled in permanent installations using M10 shoulder eyebolts. A Neutrik speakON* NL4 speaker connector is located on the rear panel wired in parallel with a 4-way barrier strip providing input and link through connections to additional TCS series cabinets.
The TCS153 is finished in durable black or optional white semi matt textured paint. A weather resistant version is optionally available designed for outdoor use, with all components rated to IP54 and fitted with a captive cable tail secured through a sealed cable gland on an aluminium panel.
